Konstantinos Vamvakas
The outer square carries his name. Read how an emigrant’s contribution supported the school and electricity supply, then look for his bust during your visit.
The biographical account in Mastichochorousika Nea connects his 1953 visit with funding a second wing at the secondary school and the village’s electricity supply. His gifts supported infrastructure that an entire community could share.

Known as the outer square, this public space bears the name of Konstantinos Vamvakas. Michalis Kanarios’s local history records the unveiling of his bust here on 6 August 2014. Read his story before you arrive: the memorial becomes more meaningful when you know about the school wing and electricity projects associated with his 1953 contribution.
This is the outer square, not the Platsa meeting point used by the walking tours. Use the named pin to avoid confusing the two.

Two things to notice
Find the commemorative bust and read any inscription on site. Connect the name with the education and electricity story in the guide.
Continue to the nearby Grigoriadis fountain for a second story of shared infrastructure. These two stops work well as a short addition to a village visit.
Is this the start of the circular walks?
The guide’s circular walks start and finish at Platsa. Vamvakas Square is a separate stop; open the walking guide for the exact meeting point.
