Komi Beach
Long sandy shores, seaside cafés and an easy change of pace from the village lanes.
A small pebbly bay south of Mesta, with seasonal beach services.
Directions from Kalamoti ↗Suggested seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn
A seasonal canteen or beach bar and umbrellas are reported. Bring supplies outside summer; for a wider choice of meals and shopping, stop in Mesta before heading down.
From Kalamoti, reach Mesta via Pyrgi and Olympoi, then take the coast road from the village entrance junction. Select Avlonia near Mesta, not the similarly named cove near Pyrgi. Check the final road surface locally.
Take your own shade if you need a guaranteed shaded place.
Google Maps opens for navigation. Check the named beach and park before the shore; directions do not confirm the last path is drivable. Seasonal services are not live opening information.

Leave a part of your day for Kalamoti’s lanes and a local meal. A beach visit and an inland village walk offer two different ways to know southern Chios; plan your own transport between them.
Kalamoti’s fertile surroundings, its place in the mastic landscape and its former administrative role help explain its importance within southern Chios. The official Chios guide connects the plain and nearby Apolichnon castle with Genoese defensive planning. Calling it a heart of the Mastichochoria describes these connections: fields, settlement and the organisation of a wider region.
